The TRG Congratulates Prime Minister and Party!
The Chairman and Board of the Tory Reform Group offer its congratulations to the Prime Minister and all newly and re-elected Conservative MPs who we hope and expect will work to continue the hard-won recovery for everyone right across our country.
We are especially delighted that so many TRG One Nation Candidates have been returned to Parliament and our very own TRG Battle Bus tour saw a 100% record of successful MP’s elected to the House of Commons, most with much improved majorities. Our thanks go to all the TRG activists and members who supported these campaigns up and down the country.
This Majority Conservative result is a clear mandate to David Cameron to continue the work he has been leading of reforming our schools and our welfare system so that we achieve full employment; to support pensioners and those who need extra help; and to ensure that Britain has a bright future.
On an EU referendum, it's been forty years, so it is indeed time to ask the question again. We hope and expect that the Prime Minister's renegotiations will result in changes across the EU that makes it more open, more competitive and fairer, and that when we have that referendum, we will be able to vote to stay in an association which we believe is, on balance, of benefit to us all.
The TRG is not just a political grouping or think tank, it is the one nation home for conservative party members, councillors, MP’s and MEP’s and a place to belong, form and share ideas and drive the mainstream view within the conservative party.
As the Prime Minister himself said at his Witney Constituency count and outside Number 10 earlier,
“As I said in the small hours of this morning, we will govern as a party of one nation. One United Kingdom. That means ensuring this recovery reaches all parts of our country, from north to south, from east to west, and indeed it means rebalancing our economy. Building that northern powerhouse. It means giving everyone in our country a chance, so no matter where you’re from, you have the opportunity to make the most of your life. It means giving the poorest people the chance of training, a job and hope for the future. It means that for children who don’t get the best start in life, there must be the nursery education and good schooling that can transform their life chances, and of course it means bringing together the different nations of our United Kingdom. I have always believed in governing with respect.”
So let us all now come together and embrace this opportunity to build something special for all the people of the United Kingdom and to be the champion of One Nation ideals within our party.

On behalf of the TRG Board and Officers
The Tory Reform Group seeks to promote the One Nation Conservative values of:
The Tory Reform Group works to promote the values of One Nation Conservatism. That is, a modern, progressive Conservatism that strives for economic efficiency and social justice; a Conservatism that supports equality, diversity and civil liberties.
We believe that elections are won and lost in the centre ground and that the Tory Party is at its best when it is firmly in the centre. The TRG is active in supporting David Cameron and his positive vision for the Tory Party.
The TRG was formally established in June 1975, conceived as a national forum for ordinary Party members and MPs alike who saw the need for the application of traditional Tory values in the modern world. One of the largest groups aligned with the Party, the TRG is now recognised as the authentic voice of moderate, One Nation Conservatism throughout the Party.
"The TRG has contributed greatly to the Conservative Party over the last 30 years and is central to where we need to be in the future... your core beliefs in 'freedom, individual responsibility and community' matter now more than ever."
(Rt Hon. David Cameron MP, Summer 2009)
The TRG brings together members and supporters of the Conservative Party who share this approach to Conservative politics. Our strength lies in the breadth and blend of our membership, which is drawn from all ages and backgrounds.
